Posted on November 1, 2015 at 5:15 AM Comments comments (5107)

It's that time again! Are you covered? Enroll today to skip the penalty!

Individuals must have a health insurance plan with MEC under ACA or pay a penalty.

Affordable Care Act (ACA)

Required: Minimum Essential Coverage

Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) is the type of coverage an individual needs to meet the individual responsibility requirement under the Affordable Health Care (ACA). Those that do not have a health insurance plan may incur a penalty when they file their taxes at the end of the year.

The 2016 penalty for not having ACA coverage in 2015 is the greater of:

• $695 per adult and $347.50 per child or,

• 2.5% of your household income.

In the future year the penalty will be adjusted according to inflation. If you are uninsured:

• Less than 3 months, no penalty is due.

• 3 months or more, your penalty would be 1/12 of the yearly penalty for every month you are uninsured.

We have agents standing by to assist you in comparing plans, calculating subsides, and enrolling in a health plan that meets your needs.  Call us today at 813-909-HELP.

Anthem Blue Cross to Buy Cigna

Posted on July 30, 2015 at 3:05 PM Comments comments (2305)

Anthem is buying Cigna in a deal valued at $54.2 billion that will create the nation's largest health insurer by enrollment, covering about 53 million members. Anthem, based in Indianapolis, has pursued Cigna aggressively for months. The deal comes just three weeks after the insurer Aetna bid $35 billion for Humana in a buyout frenzy that will transform five massive U.S. health companies into three even larger ones.

Anthem said it expects the deal to close in the second half of 2016, indicating a long regulatory road ahead. Anthem said it was confident it would get all necessary regulatory and other approvals. The company has said the acquisition will help it reduce costs and allow it to negotiate lower prices with doctors and hospitals. However, antitrust authorities are expected to aggressively scrutinize how the combinations will affect competition for Medicare, individual and commercial insurance.

Anthem and Cigna are two of just four major insurers that administer self-insured plans for major companies. The other two are UnitedHealth Group, Inc. and Aetna. UnitedHealth is currently the biggest U.S. health insurer by membership, while Anthem and Cigna rank No. 2 and No. 4. The combined company would have about 53 million members. UnitedHealth had 45.86 million members as of June 30, 2015.

There are a lot of changes taking place in regards to health insurance mainly due to the Affordable Healthcare Act. At Integrity Financial Insurance we want our clients to be informed of what is taking place regarding your health insurance. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call or contact us.

Aetna to Acquire Humana

Posted on July 6, 2015 at 8:00 AM Comments comments (540)

Aetna has recently announced as of July 3rd 2015 a definite agreement to acquire and merge with Humana.

Aetna does not expect this transaction to close until the second half of 2016 and stated they will be communicating with everyone in a timely manner about any developments. In the meantime, Aetna and Humana will continue to operate and compete as independent companies. Customers and members should experience no changes in their current coverage.

This announcement is just the first step. The agreement to acquire Humana, one of the country’s leading managed care companies, is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals, and a shareholder vote by both companies. Until the closing, Aetna and Humana will operate as usual.
